Does you child have a flat head? How did you correct? How long did it take to round out?
My son is 7 months and we really started "working" on his flat head since he was 3.5 mos... more tummy time, using all sides of his head, keeping pressure of the flat side.. but it seems like nothing's changed. His dr. said that it will eventually round out... but it's seems like it's been forever and he still has this flat head. I know some of you may think it's just purely cosmetic and won't affect him, but still I would like for my son to have a round head.
To those parents whose child has a flat head, did it eventually round out? What did you do? At what age did you start your corrective actions and how long did it take? Thanks very much.

There are some great answers here. I just wanted to add how many people are are in your very position right now, or have been in your position and wish they would have been more informed. There is an active petition to the American Academy of Pediatrics to stop doctors from saying "it will eventually round out" because it very often does not.Check out http://www.petitiononline.com/0799/petition.html.
After you have tried many techniques for so long, I would suggest you look into the helmet option. You can call Orthomerica Products for a vendor in your area. You can also check out http://www.kidisplint.com/, an excellent orthotist in NY that my son got his helmet from.
It is often expensive, yet you would rather not look back and wish you would have done something when it is too late. My health insurance covered most of mine, but I have a pretty good policy so you can find out for yourself.
It is often cosmetic, but there have been reports of side effects of plagiocephaly such as Migraines, Temporomandibular Joint {TMJ} Syndrome, Eyesight problems, and Severe Psychological Consequences.
Speak to your doctor, and if he doesn't know enough about it don't let him shrug you off. Best of luck.
