How can I make myself look older for work?
I am a teacher. Other teachers and students mistake me for one of the kids. I dress conservatively/professionally, I wear my hair up, use light makeup, and I wear eyeglasses. I am 5'4'' 115 lbs, cute I guess, guys tend to like me anyway. Any tips on how to toughen up my look/look older/be taken more seriously?
the problem may be your height
do you wear heals tall ones to increase your height? mom says they suck and make your feet ache but since you are as short/tall as by baby sister at 11 years old that might help
mom says conservative/pro might be good for secretary's but for a school marm you might want to try dowdy/old maid look
high necked - no buttons undone - long skirts to your ankles (should be easy for you because of your shortness, any skirt that goes to most girls knees is a mini on mom, she says to much leg on her) dark colors, think Laura Engals on little house on the prairie teachers style. simple but plane and looser fitting that will add age to you, you can also streak you hair to give the appearance of graying, the hair dresser can do it for you. the patterns on your blouses needs to be small floral prints usually called calico's, that will date you into the 1940's in peoples minds, that way they associate the fabric to age that is not there in reality.
