when re-cycling glass jars do i have to remove the paper labels round them?
and do i remove the paper labels from tins which go in my re-cycling bin along with the glass items. thank you. this is UK
sometimes bottles have a ring of plastic round the outside at the top of the neck.i cant remove these. are they removed by burning?
No, don't waste you time. the recycling plant will run clear glass through machines that sort this out.
In the UK we only recycle clear glass ( brown /green glass is mostly wasted as only a very small part of this can be used in some building materials.
The UK does not make wine bottles and most beer bottles are made abroad.
The government uses the recycling of glass to reduce its landfill charges. Even though most glass is just shipped abroad and dumped.
